The mistake in the rainy season is carrying on as though it were April. Most of what we see die in July and August dies not from the rain but from what people keep doing while it rains.
Stop watering to a schedule
Check with a finger instead. Two inches down, if it is damp, leave it. Roots sitting in saturated soil cannot take up oxygen, and a drowning plant looks a great deal like a thirsty one: limp leaves, yellowing from the base up. Watering it again is the common response and the fatal one.
Get the water away
Lift pots onto feet or bricks so the drainage hole is not sealed against wet ground, and empty the saucers. In beds, a shallow channel cut to a drain is worth an afternoon of work.
Air, and less of everything else
Warm and wet is what fungus wants. Thin crowded growth so air moves through the plant, take off anything already spotted, and hold back the nitrogen. Soft new growth in the monsoon is what mildew and leaf spot arrive on.
Tie in anything tall before the first real squall rather than after it.
